A unique, all-inclusive venue for your winter wedding: weekend packages from 60 guests, November to March – the estate sleeps 150, the barn seats 130 – with snow on the roofs, an open fire in the Chieftain’s Hall and the ceremony indoors in the Banquet Hall.
We tailor your wedding package and help you plan for the most important day of your life.
Arrive to snow and firelight. The weekend opens with a welcome dinner in the Chieftain’s Hall, where you feast as the Vikings once did, around an open hearth and long tables lit by candles and torches – the warmest room on the farm on the coldest night of the year.
Day 2
Saturday
A wedding ceremony in the Banquet Hall
In winter the ceremony usually moves indoors, to the Banquet Hall – the nineteenth-century room with its carved dragon heads, candlelight and the snow outside the windows. The tarn keeps its place in the photographs; the vows are said in the warm.
Day 2 · Saturday
Champagne in the snow
Time to toast. Sparkling wine on the farmyard with snow underfoot and the mountains white to the horizon – and then back in by the fire.
Day 2 · Saturday
Farm-to-table wedding dinner in the barn
The barn has been insulated and heated since 2026 – warm enough for a wedding in February. Dinner is cooked by our own chefs from the farm’s and the valley’s ingredients: winter menus, slow-cooked, served at the long tables under the chandeliers.
Day 2 · Saturday
Torchlight procession
From the barn to the party by torchlight, through the snow – a few minutes’ walk that everyone remembers.
Day 2 · Saturday
Night club in the Nøkken Dome
The procession ends at the bridge over the moat and the dome standing in the frozen tarn: dance floor on the ground floor, DJ on the mezzanine, lounge sofas above. Outside, the snow; inside, the night.
Day 3
Sunday
Gourmet buffet brunch in the Banquet Hall
A slow morning of gourmet flavours in the Banquet Hall – and for those who want it, the Hemsedal slopes twenty minutes away for an afternoon on skis before the drive home.
November to March
Winter wedding in Norway
A winter wedding in Norway means short days and long evenings: from four in the afternoon the light comes from candles, torches and the fire. Every venue is insulated and heated, Gol station is thirty minutes away for guests arriving by train, and Oslo is under three hours by car.
From 60 guests, November to March. The whole estate is yours for the weekend – and the guests sleep on the farm, 150 beds in cottages and apartments a short walk from the barn.
Midwinter days are short: in December it is light from about half past eight until four, in February from half past seven until half past five, and by the end of March the days are twelve hours long. Hold the ceremony around one o’clock in December and January and the photographs are taken in daylight – after that, the light comes from candles, torches and the fire.
Warmth
Every venue of the weekend is insulated and heated, the barn included, and the Chieftain’s Hall has its open hearth. Between the venues it is a few minutes’ walk outdoors, by torchlight.
Getting here
Hemsedal is about three hours by car from Oslo and Oslo Airport (Gardermoen), and about four from Bergen; Gol station on the Bergen Line is half an hour away. Guests who drive in winter should have winter tyres and allow a little extra time. Everyone sleeps on the farm from Friday to Sunday, so nobody drives after the party.
What to wear
Indoors, a dress or a suit is as right as in summer. For the champagne in the snow and the torchlight walk, bring a warm coat, a hat and gloves, and boots with a good grip for the farmyard – with a second pair of shoes for the dance floor. A wrap or a cape for the bride makes the portraits in the snow comfortable.
What couples say
What a beautiful place! It means so much to us now after getting married here in September 2023. Our dream wedding weekend with 120 guests came true. The service was amazing, and the food was local and heavenly. Just so impressive.

We had our wedding at Huso – cannot recommend it highly enough. Absolute dream of a weekend, and all the staff were so helpful, service-minded and solution-oriented. Would get married there again (hope not though).
Emilie and Jon Erik, June 2023
We got married in June 2024. It was the best weekend ever and we couldn’t be happier to have chosen Huso Lodge. The area itself is absolutely magical, and the various cottages are nice & cool. All 80 guests were very satisfied.
Ingrid and Magnus, June 2024
We are left with an overwhelming sense of gratitude after the fantastic experience the team at Huso created for us. It’s hard to find the right words to express how deeply thankful we are for everything they did to make our wedding weekend so beautiful and special.
From November to March. Winter weekends are booked on request: tell us the weekend you have in mind and we will check it for you. A winter wedding starts at 60 guests; from May to October the minimum is 80. The whole estate is yours for the weekend.
Where is the ceremony held in winter?
Usually indoors, in the Banquet Hall – the nineteenth-century room with its carved dragon heads, candlelight and the snow outside the windows. If you would rather marry in church, Hemsedal Church and Gol Church are a short drive away. The frozen tarn is kept for the photographs.
How much does a winter wedding cost?
A winter wedding is an all-inclusive weekend package priced per guest, as it is the rest of the year: the price follows your date, the number of guests, the menu and the drinks. Guests usually pay for their own accommodation, so the cost is shared. Request a tailored proposal and we will send you itemised pricing.
Can our guests ski during the wedding weekend?
Yes. The Hemsedal ski slopes are a 20-minute drive away, so guests can ski on Friday before the welcome dinner or on Sunday after brunch.
Where do the guests sleep?
On the farm: the estate sleeps 150 in cottages and apartments a short walk from the barn, and every couple or family gets their own bedroom. The large cottages each have their own wood-fired hot tub and sauna.

We got married at Huso Lodge March 12-15, and we couldn't have been happier! Danae, Jose and the team at Huso made the weekend absolutely fantastic! No matter what requests we had, they were solution-oriented and flexible, so that the weekend was exactly how we wanted it! All the guests have praised the place, all the venues and not least the food that was served! It was absolutely beautiful. The opportunity for everyone to stay together resulted in us having the cabin trip of a lifetime with all our friends and family, and with hot tubs and saunas there was a great atmosphere in all the cabins. The Dome as a venue made the wedding complete with a real party!
We can highly recommend Huso Lodge to everyone, whether it's for a wedding, a work event or just a cabin trip. The place must be experienced!

We celebrated our wedding here in March with 75 guests. Beautiful place and nice host. Nice to be able to gather the guests for a weekend of accommodation and party in the same place. Varying standard of the rooms. The communication in advance was demanding, it was in English, was sometimes unclear and it took time before the contract was in place. But once things were clarified, the host was very accommodating and met our wishes in a good way. We and our guests had a fantastic weekend.
