Viking House

Since 2012, we have been spending our winter holidays in Norway every February, visiting various destinations and finding beautiful spots such as Trysil, Tyin, and Beitostølen. This year, our group of 21 people stayed at Huso for the first time with Danae and Björn as our hosts.

To put it simply – everything felt easy and right. The booking process, the communication, the on-site organization, and the genuine warmth of Danae and Björn captured our hearts immediately. There was nothing that couldn't be organized, even on short notice, and we felt cared for and looked after at all times.

We stayed in the Viking House and were more than satisfied. The kitchen was well-equipped and functional, and there were plenty of bathrooms and toilets. All of us found enough space across the 12 rooms, and the dining and living area was both cozy and practical.

The two hot tubs, the outdoor sauna including an ice hole for dipping, the 100m cross-country ski track right at our doorstep, and Björn’s delicious selection of Elg meat were just a few of the many highlights that made our time in Huso unforgettable. This means we will definitely be back—we have truly taken Huso, Danae, and Björn into our hearts. Thank you and see you soon - Dago :)

Perfect stay for our school class. The cabin is of a good standard, is large, spacious and has many bedrooms. You can bring a large group here without stepping on each other. The cabin has fantastic hot tubs and a sauna which is perfect on a cold winter day. The location is idyllic and it is a short distance to various activities

Fantastisk sted og veldig original hytte. Svært positivt med badestamp, hull i isen og sauna. Vi leide lokal kokk og hadde en utrolig flott matopplevelse en av kveldene, kan virkelig anbefales.

På den andre siden hadde vi noen utfordringer med mus og maur under besøket. Videre kunne hytta vært noe bedre rengjort ved ankomst.

So if you're ever going somewhere, go here! If you're having a wedding, party or just a good group of friends/family who want to go somewhere together, Huso is the place. Works both in summer and winter, with a wood-fired sauna and steam room, pond, hiking trails right around the corner and a place that feels like being one with nature, it's an idyllic place to be just for a long weekend or a whole week. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic location with great hosts! We stayed in this beautiful house with 25 people in age between 3 and 72! Excellent facilities, beautiful views in a quiet area.

There was plenty to do for everyone! Walking, skiing, sledding, swimming in an ice bath, relaxing in the hut tub and sauna, just too many to mention.

We enjoyed delicious leg of lamb prepared by the host, which we highly recommend! We really would love to come back here again :)

At the end of April, we enjoyed a wonderful time here together with the whole family; it is a quirky house with a spacious layout. There are many bedrooms and plenty of areas to sit, both indoors and outdoors. Cooling off in the hole in the frozen lake after the sauna made the stay an extra fun experience. There is also plenty to do in the surrounding area.

We visited the Viking house beginning of February with 23 guests, and had a great time.

The Huso Lodge staff was very helpful bringing the luggage between the bus and the cabin when the bus could not get all the way to the cabin due to icy roads.

The sauna worked out very well, and the big screen TV was helpful both for presentations and playing music.

The beds were also very good and refrigerated storage room was plentiful.

There were a few things that could have been better though.

Only one functional dishwasher is not sufficient for so many people. The stove in the kitchen stopped working before we were able to finish our dinner cooking one of the evenings (luckily, they had a 2-plate hob that we managed finish the cooking on). The second small kitchen with a sink and water tap would have been very helpful to the meal preparations, if it had not been broken. Internet was only functional in the living room, as there were no mesh or other access points in the cabin.The oven for the hot tub was way too small - we heated the hot tub for 12 hours but barely got above 30 degrees in the water (outdoor temperature was about -5 degrees).

We had a corporate get away event at Viking House in Huso Lodge in January 2022. We had around 18 guests who all had a great time.

The hot tub is wood fired - so of course can take some time to heat up but we managed this every night and we were provided plenty of wood to make this easy.

The venue itself is very spacious with plenty of room for a large crowd. The kitchen is great for preparing food and the dining room perfect for a banquet. The living space is large enough for a relaxed evening.

In particular i would like to say a big thanks to the staff at Huso lodge who went the extra mile to help us on several occasions. Whether it be preparing for outdoor games, helping us with extra amenities or towing us out of a ditch when our car got stuck on the way up to the cabin - they were always on hand to help and make sure we had a great time.

For what the price is there were some small stuff which had large issues.

The wood hot tub for example was constantly leaking and when we went into it, was below room temperature. Perhaps that was due to us, I do not know, but it took long time to heat up (which was expected) but was not a hot tub.

The fireplace was only used once as it filled the entire living room with smoke and we are unsure why. Most of us could not sit in one of the three living rooms that was there.

Besides those two issues, it was a great week stay. The beds were extremely comfortable, there was enough space for everyone and the walls were very nice. Kitchen is a bit small though, but it makes up for it with its cold room.

Lastly, there is a giant lake to use and canoeing is available for free. Its so lovely to sit and be outside.

We had a great stay at Steffen’s place. The cabin is huge and can store up to 30 people. We were around 20 people and everyone had a great time! Fits perfectly for large groups wanting to have a getaway. There’s a lake in which you can swim in and there’s an old school jacuzzi and sauna which were very popular :) Thanks for having us!
